Program Notes: String Quartet No. 1 was completed in April of 1988 in Rochester, New York. It consists of three movements. The first movement is a scherzo of sorts. The second movement is slower and more congenial. The last movement uses minimalist techniques in a non-tonal, non-triadic setting.
